This guide provides detailed instructions for installing SOLIDWORKS Connected through the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. SOLIDWORKS Connected is a cloud-integrated version of SOLIDWORKS that leverages Dassault Systèmes’ platform for design and data management. This article applies only to users with the 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS role assigned.
NOTE: This process does not apply to SOLIDWORKS Standalone or Network licenses.
Prerequisites
Before beginning the installation, confirm the following:- You have an active 3DEXPERIENCE platform login.
- You are assigned the 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS role.
- Check your roles via the 3DCompass in your browser (blue circle with the play button in the top left). Contact your platform administrator if the role is missing.
- You are on a supported Windows device.
- macOS and mobile devices are not supported.

TIP: If you have access to any SOLIDWORKS add-ins (e.g., SOLIDWORKS Simulation, SOLIDWORKS Flow, etc.), have those serial numbers ready before you get started for a smooth installation.
For assistance accessing your serial numbers, please reference this guide on using the SOLIDWORKS Admin Portal. If further assistance is needed, please contact your Value Added Reseller (VAR).
Installation Steps
- Open a browser and navigate to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
- Sign in with your credentials.
- In the 3DCompass app list, locate and click the SOLIDWORKS Connected app icon.
- Wait 10–15 seconds for the platform to detect if the 3DEXPERIENCE Launcher is already installed.
- If prompted, download the 3DEXPERIENCE Launcher .MSI file and run the installer.
- Once the launcher is installed, a 3DEXPERIENCE Launcher prompt may appear. Select Always to avoid repeated warnings in future launches.
- When the Role Selection window appears, select Install All Roles Containing SOLIDWORKS Connected.
- Alternatively, choose Install All Granted Roles if multiple roles have been assigned to your account, and you would like to install them now.
- Wait for the installation wizard to appear and follow on-screen prompts to complete the installation process.
NOTE: When you reach the Install SOLIDWORKS Add-ins page, only select these options if you have a standalone/network license of a SOLIDWORKS add-in product. To obtain the serial number(s) for your product(s), have your organization's Security Administrator access the SOLIDWORKS Admin Portal.
If you do not currently have access to the SOLIDWORKS Admin Portal, you can have any of your organization's Security Administrators add you as a Security Administrator as well, as outlined in this DSx.Client Member Management guide. If you need further support or do not know of any Security Administrators in your organization, contact your Value Added Reseller (VAR).
If you have already installed SOLIDWORKS Connected, please reference our guide on installing SOLIDWORKS add-ins to an existing installation of SOLIDWORKS Connected.
Once the installation has finished, repeat Step 3 to launch SOLIDWORKS Connected. After the initial launch from the web browser, you can continue to launch from the platform in the web browser, or from the Desktop Shortcut that will be automatically created.
