How to Replace Yourself as the only 3DEXPERIENCE Platform Administrator
This guide provides instructions for changing your Platform Administrator using the built-in "Replace Me" option. This is common when someone is leaving an organization and can help ease transitions.
NOTE: This process does not apply to SOLIDWORKS Standalone or Network licenses.
Prerequisites
Before initiating the change in roles, confirm the following:- You have access to the account that is assigned as Platform Administrator and is not under the 30 day lock.
- To check if the account is under the 30 day lock, access the Members Control Center, find the admin being replaced, click on the "i" next to their account, then look for the 3DSwymmer Role. Hover over the calendar to see when the role was assigned. If it was in the last 30 days, the Replace Me function will not work

- If the admin has left the company and you do not have access to the account, but the user's account was tied to a company email to which you, or your IT department, do have access, you can use the 3DEXPERIENCE password reset option to attempt to gain access.
- You have another user's email on the Platform or that you wish to invite to your Platform to replace the current administrator.
- The recipient will need to create a 3DEXPERIENCE ID (if not already created) to access the platform and assume the transferred roles.
TIP: You must be logged in to the account you intend to replace; these steps cannot be completed on behalf of another user.
Initiating the switch
- Open a browser and navigate to the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform.
- Sign in with the credentials of the admin initiating the change.
- In the 3DCompass app list, click on the compass (the blue circle with the play button in the middle) then locate and click on the Members Control Center app.
- Find the name of the administrator you're replacing and click on the "i" to the right.
- Click on Settings, then Replace Me.
- In the next window, enter the email address of the user you want to designate as your replacement, along with an optional message to the recipient, then click Replace Me.
- If the selected user does not have any roles assigned, the system will prompt the initiating user to assign necessary roles to the replacement user.

- The initiating user will lose rights once the action is confirmed, and the designated user will receive an email with instructions to take over Administrator responsibilities.
If an admin account needs to be replaced and the log in information is not available or is still under the 30 day lock, the change in ownership must be completed by Dassault Systèmes. Please contact your Value Added Reseller (VAR) to initiate this action.
8. Once the replacement is complete, the recipient can log into the Platform to perform administrative duties,
including managing Role assignment, managing Collaborative Spaces, and implementing CAD data rules.
FAQ
Can I undo a “Replace Me” after I confirm it?

The change cannot be immediately reversed. Once the transfer is complete, the previous admin’s role is revoked and locked to the new administrator for a mandatory 30-day period. To revert this change, the new admin must wait until the 30-day window has passed and then use the Replace Me function again, or contact your VAR for assistance.
Can the new Admin immediately manage licenses and invite users?

Yes. The transfer is instantaneous. As soon as they log in, they’ll have the full admin dashboard and capabilities.
Is there any audit trail of who was Admin before?

Yes. The transfer is logged in the platform’s governance history (visible to admins and, if needed, by Dassault Systèmes support) under the Logs in the Members Control Center. Email notifications also serve as confirmation.
