How to Reset the SOLIDWORKS PDM Admin Password

This guide outlines the steps to reset the admin password for SOLIDWORKS PDM. The admin password is set during vault creation, but if it is lost or forgotten, follow these instructions to reset it.

Step 1: Log Into the Archive Server

  1. Log into the server/computer hosting the PDM Archive Server using an account with local administrative permissions.

Step 2: Open Registry Editor

CAUTION: Exercise caution when editing or deleting entries in the Windows Registry, as modifying the wrong entry can cause significant system issues.

  1. Launch Registry Editor.
  2. Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SolidWorks\Applications\PDMWorks Enterprise\ArchiveServer\ConisioUsers
  3. Delete the Admin key in this folder.

Step 3: Open the Archive Server Configuration Tool

  1. Launch the Archive Server Configuration application.
  2. In Archive Server Configuration, drop down the Tools menu and select Default Settings.



  3. Go to the Login tab.
  4. In the Admin User section, click the Password button.




Step 4: Set a New Password

  1. Enter a new password, leaving the current password field blank.
  2. Click OK to save the changes.

Step 5: Log In with the New Password

  1. Open the PDM Administration Tool.
  2. Log in with the username admin and the new password you just set.
