How to Resolve the “An Incomplete Installation Has Been Found In This Directory” Error for SOLIDWORKS  Design Named User License

When updating SOLIDWORKS Design Named User License, installations might fail due to a non-empty installation directory. Follow these steps to resolve the issue by clearing the incomplete installation folder.

Step 1: Navigate to the Incomplete Install Data Folder

  1. Leave the error message open, or select Exit Installer.
  2. Open Windows File Explorer.
    1. Press Win + E to open Windows File Explorer.
  3. Navigate to the Incomplete folder in the Installation Directory.
    1. C:\Program Files\Dassault Systemes\SOLIDWORKS Design\InstallData\

Step 2: Delete the Incomplete Install Data

    1. Delete the Incomplete folder and all of the contents within.
    2. After clearing the folder, select the Restart Installation button if you left the installation dialog open or retry the update.

This should allow the update to proceed without errors and you can continue with your update or installation.

Tip: If you have tried the above steps without resolution, please restart the installation. Look for an option to specify a new installation folder path (for instance, "C:\Program Files\Dassault Systemes\SOLIDWORKS Design\InstallData2\") and attempt to proceed with the installation.

If you try these tourbles hooting steps and still cannot access your software, please contact your Value Added Reseller (VAR) for assistance.
