How to Collect Logs for Troubleshooting 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS License Release Issues
If your 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS license isn't released, such as after a crash or if a service is still tying up the license, this guide will help you collect the necessary log files for troubleshooting. These logs can provide insights into why the license isn't releasing properly and assist in resolving the issue.
Step 1: Close All Running Applications
Before starting, ensure that all running applications are closed and Exit 3DEXPERIENCE PLM Services if still running.
Step 2: Set Up Environment Variables

Select View Advanced System Settings.
- If prompted for admin rights, click Yes.
-
In the System Properties dialog, go to the Advanced tab and click the Environment Variables button.

Repeat the process to create a second environment variable:
- For the variable name, type DSLCC_TRACE_PATH.
- For the variable value, type C:\temp\DSLCC.log.
- Click OK.
-
Click OK to close the Environment Variables dialog.
-
Click OK to close the System Properties dialog.
Step 3: Restart the 3DEXPERIENCE Launcher Service

- Right-click it and select Restart.
Step 4: Launch 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS
- Open your web browser and access the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform Compass.
- Launch SOLIDWORKS Connected from the platform and wait for the error message to notify you of failure to connect.
Step 5: Locate and Save the Log File
- Navigate to the path specified in the environment variable: C:\temp\DSLCC.log.
- Collect the log file and provide it to support as needed.
Step 6: Remove Environment Variables
- Return to the Environment Variables dialog by following Step 2.
- Delete the two environment variables:
- DSLCC_VERBOSE
- DSLCC_TRACE_PATH
- Click OK to close the dialog and ensure system performance is not impacted.
