How to Install Add-ins to SOLIDWORKS Connected (3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS)

This article provides step-by-step instructions to install serial number managed add-ins, such as SOLIDWORKS Simulation or Flow, in SOLIDWORKS Connected (3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS).

Note: This guide is only applicable to 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS (SOLIDWORKS Connected), not SOLIDWORKS Standalone or Network Installations. This process requires administrative rights on your local computer. Please see your IT department or gather necessary credentials before attempting these steps.

While this process generally retains all customizations and file paths, it is a good idea to back up your settings prior to uninstallation, just in case.

Step 1: Uninstall Existing Installation of SOLIDWORKS Connected

  1. Open Add or Remove Programs in Windows Settings.
  2. Locate Dassault Systemes SOLIDWORKS 3DEXPERIENCE.
  3. Uninstall the existing SOLIDWORKS Connected package.

NOTE: If you do not already have a pre-existing installation of SOLIDWORKS Connected, you can skip to the next section.

Step 2: Reinstall SOLIDWORKS Connected

  1. Follow the standard installation instructions for SOLIDWORKS Connected.
  2. In the Installation Wizard, locate the page that allows you to select add-ins. It will look similar to below
  3. Check the add-ins that you have serial numbers for (i.e. SOLIDWORKS Simulation) and enter the serial number when prompted. If you are unsure about if you need a serial number, contact your Value Added Reseller (VAR).
  4. Complete the installation.

Step 3: Activate the SimulationAdd-in License

  1. Launch SOLIDWORKS Connected.
  2. Go to the Help menu (question mark icon) in the top-right corner.
  3. Hover over Licenses and select Activate.
  4. Follow the prompts to activate the new Add-in license, or you can follow these instructions.

Step 4: Turning on the Add-ins in SOLIDWORKS

  1. Once the licenses are activated, if the add-in you are looking for is not readily available, go to Tools --> Add-ins and select the appropriate check-box associated with the add-in you'd like to use, and include the 'start up' checkbox if you'd like it to load every time.
