How to Resolve the Download 3DEXPERIENCE Launcher Message Loop
If you need to launch or install SOLIDWORKS or other local applications from the 3DEXPERIENCE platform and seem to be stuck in a loop asking you to download the 3DEXPERIENCE Launcher repeatedly, this article covers causes and resolution
NOTE: This article will be referencing 3DEXPERIENCE Platform native installations, which may be installed with the 3DEXPERIENCE Launcher regardless of the type of SOLIDWORKS Licensing you have.
With the release of Google Chrome 142 and Microsoft Edge 143, browsers have begun asking users to approve or deny local network access whenever a website attempts to communicate with an application or service on the computer.

The 3DEXPERIENCE Launcher relies on this access to start desktop applications from the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. If permission is denied or not granted, the launcher cannot function properly, which can lead to an endless loading cycle or a repeated “Download 3DEXPERIENCE Launcher” message as shown below.

Enabling Local Network Access as an End User
- Navigate to your Platform or log into solidworks.com/3dx
- Look at the left side of the URL bar.
- Right-click on the icon or area immediately before the URL.
- In the context menu, look for “Local Network Access”.
- Enable Local Network Access.
- In Google Chrome, this will be a toggle switch, which should be turned on.
- In Microsoft Edge, this will be a dropdown list, in which you should select Allow.

- Refresh the page.
- Once enabled, the 3DEXPERIENCE services should load normally.
Notes: - If your web browser is managed by your IT department, you may need admin rights or IT support to modify this setting.
- If you continue to experience issues after enabling Local Network Access, please contact your Value Added Reseller (VAR) for assistance
TIP: If you still cannot access SOLIDWORKS with Chrome at this time, try launching by directly clicking on the Desktop shortcut, or if the software is not installed, you can attempt to install it by logging into your Platform through an alternate web browser as another workaround while you further troubleshoot the issue.
TIP: This setting will need to be adjusted for every tenant you have access to. If you collaborate on many different tenants, you can carry out the following steps to apply once for all 3DEXPERIENCE domains.
