How to Resolve 3DEXPEIERNECE Launcher Not Launching or installing SOLIDWORKS

If you need to install SOLIDWORKS and seem to be stuck in a loop asking you to install the 3DEXPERIENCE Launcher repeatedly, this article covers causes and resolution when trying to launch or Install SOLIDWORKS from the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform

NOTE: This article will be referencing 3DEXPERIENCE Platform native installations, which may be installed with the 3DEXPERIENCE Launcher regardless of the type of SOLIDWORKS Licensing you have.

Some users have reported issues accessing local or platform-related SOLIDWORKS/3DEXPERIENCE pages after a recent Google Chrome update. The behavior is linked to a new browser security feature introduced in Chrome version 142.0.7444.135 and newer.

Root Cause:

Beginning with Chrome v142.0.7444.135, Google introduced a new security control called Local Network Access. This feature restricts how web applications interact with devices and services on your local network.

Certain SOLIDWORKS and 3DEXPERIENCE workflows, including the 3DEXPERIENCE Launcher, require this access to function properly.

When Chrome blocks this access, users may see page load failures, blank frames, or repeated prompts for  app installation when attempting to connect or authenticate.

How to Check Your Chrome Version:

  • Open Google Chrome.
  • Go to Menu (⋮) → Help → About Google Chrome.
  • Look for a version number beginning with 142.x.xxxx.xxx or newer.
  • If your version matches or exceeds this, continue with the fix below.
Solution: Enable Local Network Access in Chrome:

Google has made the new security toggle accessible directly from the address bar.

Steps:
  • Navigate to your Platform or log into solidworks.com/3dx
  • Look at the left side of the URL bar.
  • Right-click on the icon or area immediately before the URL.
  • In the context menu, look for “Local Network Access”.
  • Enable Local Network Access.
  • Refresh the page.
  • Once enabled, the 3DEXPERIENCE services should load normally.

    Notes:
  • This setting is controlled by Google Chrome itself. Other browsers (Edge, Firefox, Safari) are not affected at the time of this article.  If Chrome is managed by your IT department, you may need admin rights or IT support to modify this setting.
  • If you continue to experience issues after enabling Local Network Access, please contact your Value Added Reseller (VAR) for assistance

Tip: If you cannot access SOLIDWORKS with Chrome at this time, try launching by directly clicking on the Desktop icon, or if the software is not installed, you can attempt to install it by logging into your Platform through Microsoft Edge.
